Team effort lifts Rams over No. 8 USAO

FORT WORTH, Texas — Three Rams scored over 20 points each in a 96-90 win over No. 8 USAO on Monday night.

Vydal Bradford led the pack with 23 points, while Peyton Sallee chipped in 22 points and 3 steals while shooting 5-for-11 from beyond the arc.

Sebastian Karwoski rounded out the group with 21 points and 9 rebounds, just shy of recording his third double-double in a row.

David Shepard matched Sallee for 3 steals, and TXWES had 9 total swipes.

At the half, the Rams trailed the Drovers 51-43 after shooting 36.8 percent from the field to USAO's 52.9 percent. Turnovers especially hurt TXWES as they committed 10, which USAO turned into 15 points.

Deep shooting kept the Rams in contention as they made 9-of-17, close to the Drovers 7-for-17 effort. There was a stretch where USAO opened their advantage to 11 points after draining three triples in a row.

But the Rams got back to work in the second half, improving their shooting on the floor to 54 percent and reducing USAO to 37 percent.

With 16:30 remaining, TXWES went on a 20-3 run including 10 straight points from Bradford to lead 69-67.

The game tied twice more then USAO had a one point edge until the Rams drained back-to-back treys via Sallee and Bradford marking the Drovers last lead.

USAO cut the lead to four with under 50 second left, but TXWES held steady and went to the free throw line to close out the game with a 96-90 victory.

The Drovers were led by Cameron Hines with 26 points. USAO has now suffered back-to-back losses after being undefeated prior to their contests with SAGU and TXWES.

The Rams move to 8-2 overall while the Drovers are 9-2.
