OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — In their first conference game of the season, the Texas Wesleyan volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-13, 22-25, 19-25, 12-25) at No. 16 Oklahoma City on Monday night.

Arianna Alvarado and
Bailey Foy led the attack each notching 9 kills.
Morgan Burns had 29 assists,
Ashley Curry 15 digs, Veronica Webb 4 blocks and
Nyia Anderson 3 aces.

TXWES took the first set 25-13 after the Stars committed 13 errors to the Rams' 2, including a stretch where they made 5 in a row.

OCU got an early set two lead but the Rams overcame a five-point deficit to knot the score at 16-all. After two more ties, TXWES got their first lead of the set off an OCU error. The set tied three more times at 21-all until the Stars chained a 4-1 run to tie the match.

Down early in the third, Foy pounded three straight kills during a 5-point TXWES run but OCU responded with one of their own. After two ties, the Stars crept away, staying ahead by as much as 3 to win the third.

With momentum on their side, it was all OCU in the fourth as they went on a 14-2 run to start. The Rams could not recover and fell in the set and match.

OCU was led by Sophia Salak, who had 55 assists-Â her sixth career 50-assist performance.

The Stars are 1-0 overall and in the Sooner Athletic Conference. TXWES is now 6-2, 0-1.

The Rams return home to host Southwestern Christian at 6 pm on Feb. 25 in the Sid Richardson Center.
