FORT WORTH, Texas — The Texas Wesleyan Volleyball team got their fifth sweep in a row on Thursday, beating Mid-America Christian in straight sets (25-17, 25-19, 26-24) in the Sid Richardson Center.

"Tonight, the girls showed a ton of fight as MACU is a solid team that never gives up," head coach Jessica Ransom said. "We had to earn every point, and we found a way to do that."

In both the first and second sets, TXWES recorded 16 kills while the Evangels had 7. The first set saw five early lead changes until the Lady Rams chained together five points for a 14-10 advantage and stayed ahead for the remainder of the frame.

In set two, the Evangels would lead by as much as four points taking advantage of TXWES errors, but a 13-3 run by the Lady Rams would put the set back in their hands for a lead they would maintain to win 25-19.

MACU took their largest lead of the match in set three, getting ahead of TXWES by as much as five points. After back-and-forth action, the Evangels landed on set point 24-22, but after a timeout, the Lady Rams came back strong.

Nyia Anderson kept the sweep alive with a powerful kill and the Evangels faltered for three straight errors finished with a Bailey Foy block for the 26-24 set and match win.

Foy finished the game with 3 total blocks alongside Sydney Charlton and Veronika Webb.

Charlton led the TXWES attack with 11 kills while Foy and Andrea Malek added 9 each.
