BETHANY, Okla. — The Texas Wesleyan Baseball team fell in the Sooner Athletic Conference opening double header at Southwestern Christian on Saturday.

The Rams lost the first game 6-5 and the second 8-3.

In game one, the Rams struck first in the top of the first as
Marcos Sanchez tripled to deep right scoring
Jose Sosa. In the bottom, SCU tied it on an RBI double.

TXWES took the lead in the third as Sanchez reached on an error but got his second RBI of the day, scoring Sosa again.

In the top of the fourth, Kevin Santiago furthered the Rams lead by plating two on a single down the right field line then
Brayden Bahnsen scored to make it a 5-1 game.
Â
But the Eagles had a comeback in store for the bottom of the fifth as they gained the advantage on four hits, five runs and 1 Ram error to lead 6-5. TXWES would get only one more hit in the final two frames to fall in the opener.

Reliever Garett Moltzan picked up the loss on the mound after allowing four hits and four earned runs in one inning.

Greyson Barrett and
Carson Cheaney both batted 2 for 3 in the first game.

Although TXWES out-hit the Eagles in the nightcap, 6 to 3, SCU had more production, taking the game 8-3.

Ryne Randle led the Rams going 2 for 2 at the plate with a double and 2 stolen bases.

Starter
Luis Lopez-Valdez was charged with the loss after giving up five earned runs and two hits in 3.1 innings.

The Rams are now 6-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference, while SCU improves to 19-3 overall and 2-0 in the league.

The teams will complete their series on Sunday with a single 9 inning game starting at noon.
