FORT WORTH, Texas – The Texas Wesleyan volleyball team (13-2, 6-1 SAC) passed a tough test against an evenly matched Wayland Baptist team (13-4, 6-1 SAC), winning 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 25-23, 25-16) at the Sid Richardson Center on Friday night.
The Lady Rams have now won seven consecutive matches and hold the second spot in the SAC standings with two more conferences games remaining in the regular season.
The two teams fought hard for most of the match. The Lady Rams found a good rhythm late in the match to end in dominant fashion, but it was the Pioneers that gutted out the opening set.
TXWES regrouped and used its powerful attack from multiple hitters to keep Wayland off-balance and uncomfortable.
The Lady Rams ranks third in the NAIA in hitting percentage at .264, and hit .200 tonight. The team finished strong, hitting .276 in the final set.
The nation's leader in hitting percentage,
Bailey Foy, turned in another top-notch performance, earning 19 kills ( a career high), hitting 51.5 percent. Foy is hitting .496 on the season. Hunter Keller from Georgetown is second in hitting to Foy at .402.
