Volleyball rallies to 8 straight on Senior Day

FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas Wesleyan Volleyball (14-2, 7-1 SAC) extended its win streak to eight matches after a hard fought 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 19-25, 25-18) win over a much improved Oklahoma Panhandle State team (9-5, 4-4 SAC) on the end of a back-to-back at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Rams hit .167 and made adjustments throughout the match to counter a solid defensive Aggie team. TXWES posted 57 kills, compared to 43 from OPSU. The Aggies found seven aces, while the Rams collected just two, its low mark of the season. TXWES was also out-blocked 12-10, and digs were fairly even with the Lady Rams holding a 90-82 edge in the statistical category.

The Aggies seemed to play better as the match went long, and finally earned a win in set three. The Lady Rams were able to regroup however, and the fourth set was a fairly dominant one in favor of the home team.

OPSU's Essence West kept up with the nation's most efficient hitter in Bailey Foy as each tallied 18 kills in the match. However, West hit .132 and committed 11 errors, while Foy was sharp once again hitting .385 with just three mishaps.

Morgan Burns reset a career-high in assists with 49, while also collecting her second double double in as many days with 13 digs. Nyia Anderson also accomplished the same feat with 14 kills and 15 digs for the Lady Rams.

Emily Brooks posted a career-high 21 digs in the match that kept the offense moving. Carly Long also hit double digits in digs with 10. Brooks and Long are both playing as first year freshman.

Up next, the Lady Rams will replay the University of the Southwest on Tuesday, March 23rd starting at 6 p.m. at the Sid Richardson Center.
