FORT WORTH, Texas — The Texas Wesleyan softball team was swept by No. 4 Oklahoma City in their doubleheader Tuesday afternoon, as the Stars took game one, 11-4, and game two 5-0 at Sycamore Park.

It was the season opener for the Stars who were runner-up in the 2019 NAIA Softball World Series. They are now 2-0 overall and in the conference, while the Lady Rams are now 2-2 on the young season and in the league.

OCU struck first in the first game to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. TXWES tied it in the bottom, scoring two on a pair of fielding errors. The Stars then broke the tie, scoring at least one run in each subsequent inning taking a 11-2 advantage to the seventh inning.

That is when
Brynna Foster blasted a two-run homer, but the Lady Rams would not score again as they fell 11-4.

Ashton Davis batted 3 for 4 in game one, and
Kylie Summers went 2 for 4 with a stolen base.

OCU's Christie Betker (1-0) got the complete game win and had 11 strikeouts. TXWES starter
Taylor Tubbs (1-1) got the loss allowing three earned runs in 4.2 innings.

Game two would be a shutout, and the Stars outhit the Lady Rams 12 to 1.

The contest was scoreless until the top of the fifth when OCU singled up the middle to plate one then hit a three-run homer that same inning. One more insurance run came in the 7
th, but the Lady Rams could not cross the plate to fall 5-0.

Shelbey Cornelson (1-0) pitched the complete 1-hit game for the Stars, and Foster (1-1) was charged with the loss.

TXWES will host Ottawa University (Ariz.) this weekend for a 4-game series at Sycamore Park.
