FORT WORTH, Texas — The Texas Wesleyan softball team split a double header with Mid-America Christian, falling in game one 9-2 but winning the second 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Sycamore Park.

In game one,
Brynna Foster and
Mercedes Beltran had two hits apiece. Beltran accounted for both runs and hit a solo homer in the fifth inning.

Taylor Tubbs started the game and pitched 4.2 innings then
Brianna Gibbons closed out the final 2.1 innings out of the bullpen.

After giving up an early run on a single in game two, the Lady Rams struck early plating three runs in the bottom of one.
Ashton Davis hit an RBI single, and Tubbs followed up with a 2 RBI double for the 3-1 lead.

In the top of the second, Foster struck out the side on what would become five total strikeouts for her line. After sending the Evangels down in order in the third, TXWES gave up back-to-back singles in the fourth but kept MACU from scoring as they got a flyout and caught a runner leaving early.

Foster added an insurance run in the bottom of four on a solo homer over left field for the 4-1 TXWES edge. MACU got one back in the sixth on an RBI single, but TXWES would hold them to just one more hit in the seventh for the win.

Foster moved to 5-4 on the season with the complete game win. She alongside Tubbs, Davis and
Kimani Ferguson had 2 hits each.

The split takes TXWES to 8-8 overall and 7-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. MACU is now 16-6, 7-3.

The Lady Rams remain at home to host SAGU for a 1 pm doubleheader start on March 30 at Sycamore Park.
