FORT WORTH, Texas — The TXWES Men's Soccer team defeated Texas College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Martin Field.

The Rams limited the Steers (0-3-0) to just two shots on goal during the match. Both their shots occurred during the first 19 minutes of the match, and freshman keeper
Hugh Elliott saved their second attempt.

In the 29
th minute, the Texas College defense made a slow pass back to the keeper, but it was intercepted by freshman
Mateja Jovanovic. He made a touch toward the goal but collided with the keeper causing his shot to go wide. The keeper was issued a red card by officials and replaced with a player from the TC bench.

Junior
Mario Herrera set up for the penalty shot and drilled it past the keeper for the Rams 1-0 advantage. Down a man, the Steers were left vulnerable and the Rams took advantage.Â

Nearly three minutes later, freshman
Augustas Aldonis snuck a goal past the TC keeper after the assist from freshman
Mathis Guffroy.

Guffroy would extend the Rams advantage to 3-0 in the 86
th minute with a goal himself. Off a corner kick, two Rams headed the ball to Guffroy who lifted it back into the net with his left leg. Senior
Matheus Macedo was credited with the assist on the play.

The match completed a three game home stand by the Rams who are now 4-1-1 with two nonconference matches remaining.Â

The Rams travel to LSU-Shreveport and Texas A&M-Texarkana before hosting Wayland Baptist on Sept. 28 to open Sooner Athletic Conference play.
