McPherson, Kan. – The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball (RV) completed a clean 3-game road swing today, capped by a 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 18-25, 26-24) win over McPherson College (4-5). Yesterday, the Lady Rams topped Langston 3-1 (25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 25-14) before breezing past Central Christian 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 26-24).
The Lady Rams (5-4, 3-1 SAC) picked up a pair of conference wins during the 3-game span and sits a 3-1 in SAC play. Through eight matches this season, the Lady Rams are hitting .224, averaging 1.86 blocks per set and 16.93 digs per set.
In the match with Langston (4-7, 0-4 SAC), All-American
Bailey Foy nabbed 13 kills, hitting .522 with four blocks in the win.
Morgan Burns led all players with 39 assists, while
Andrea Malek posted 13 digs for the Lady Rams.
Nyia Anderson and
Sydney Charlton added 12 kills. The team finished the fourth set with a .556 hitting percentage after the Lions stole the third set.
In the match with Central Christian (0-12, 0-4 SAC), the team found great consistency, hitting .337 and outscoring the Tigers in points, 52-29.
Arianna Alvarado led the team with 14 kills, with
Veronika Webb adding 13.
Hannah Bokal picked up a double-double with 18 assists and 13 digs.
In the match with McPherson, the Rams edged the Bulldogs in hitting .234 to .202, but the difference was limiting attacking errors as McPherson committed 31 compared to the 19 on the Lady Ram side. The first two set were closely contested, with TXWES powering past the Bulldogs with effective hitting and solid team defense. The Rams let that elusive third set slip, but rebounded nicely in the fourth and nursed an early lead to hold off McPherson.
Veronika Webb was involved in the final three points, posting a kill before getting in on back-to-back blocks to lift the Rams to the victory. Anderson led the team with a double-double behind 13 kills and 12 digs. Burns added another double-double as well, tacking on 41 assists to go along with 10 digs.
The team will come back to 'The Sid' to host Huston-Tillotson on Tuesday, Sept. 14 in a re-match of the
2019 NAIA Women's Volleyball National Tournament Opening Round. The match is set for a 6 p.m. start. The game will be live streamed and can be viewed by going to
