FORT WORTH, Texas — The Texas Wesleyan Men's Soccer team opened Sooner Athletic Conference play with a 3-3 draw with Wayland Baptist on Tuesday evening at Martin Field.
The Rams were up early in the first half, scoring 2 goals on 6 shots, while limiting WBU to just 1 first half shot. Sophomore

th minute assisted by junior

th minute saw TXWES' second goal by freshman
Joep Van Wyk assisted by freshman
Mateja Jovanovic.
7 minutes into the second half, WBU would score their first goal of the match, but 10 minutes later, TXWES responded with a goal from Jovanovic- his fifth of the season.
Down 3-1, WBU persevered, scoring goals in the 64
th and 66
th minute to tie the match at 3-3.
The Pioneers had a chance to take the lead in the 69
th minute but their penalty kick was saved by senior
Bastian Blumenberg. In the last 10 minutes of regulation, both sides took one shot each, but no score occurred taking the game into overtime.
The match would go through two overtime periods with no score as TXWES took 5 shots and WBU 1 shot with no success.
The draw takes TXWES to 5-2-1 overall and WBU to 4-3 overall.
The Rams remain at home to host Southwestern Christian at 7 pm on Saturday, Oct 2 at Martin Field.
