FORT WORTH, Texas — The Sooner Athletic Conference opener for the Texas Wesleyan and Wayland Baptist Women's Soccer teams ended in a 2-2 draw on Tuesday evening at Martin Field.

After a scoreless half from both sides, each team would net 2 goals each in the second half, including a last second equalizer from WBU. Neither team would score through two overtime periods resulting in the 2-2 tie to open conference play.

The Lady Rams controlled possession for much of the first half, taking 18 shots while limiting WBU to just one. The Pioneers keeper kept strong in the box, saving 7 shots, while TXWES keeper freshman
Reese Blanton saved WBU's lone chance.

11 minutes into the second half, WBU struck first, after back-to-back shots each saved by Blanton, the Pioneers' Bianca Roman found an opening to score first in the 57
th minute.

7 minutes later, the Lady Rams would tie the match as senior
Savanna Barron delivered a corner kick to senior
Danielle Trought who scored her second goal of the season. Another ten minutes passed before Trought scored her second goal of the game and third of the year on a corner kick from freshman
Mikayla Trevino, assisted by sophomore
Gracie Spradley.

Trought's goals put TXWES up 2-1, a lead they held until the very last second of the match when Roman put one back to send the game into overtime.

Through two overtime periods TXWES would take 5 shots and WBU 2 with no success, ending the match in a 2-2 draw putting the Lady Rams record to 5-1-2 and the Pioneers 4-2-1.

Blanton finished the game with 9 total saves, matching her game high which she set at Texas A&M-Texarkana on Sept. 18.

The Lady Rams remain at home to host Southwestern Christian at 5 pm on Saturday, Oct. 2.
