Rams fall against #15 USAO

CHICKASHA OK.-- The Texas Wesleyan men's basketball team (17-6, 10-5 SAC) lost a tough conference matchup against #15 University of Science and Arts (18-4, 13-2) 102-87 on Monday night in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

The Rams fought hard in the first half with resilient effort and efficient shooting. The Rams trailed 52-46 at half against an opponent in USAO that has won 12 out of their last 13 games. After 1 half of play, TXWES put themselves in good position to have an opportunity to win the game. 

The Rams continued to plug away in the second half as they only trailed 84-81 with 6:54 left in the game. From this point forward, the Drovers dominated as they ended the game on a 21-6 run to capture the victory.

The Rams shot 33 of 62 from the field (53 percent,) and 7 of 18 from the three-point line (38 percent.) The Rams spread the ball well and made the right plays as they recorded 17 total assists as a team. TXWES scored 44 points in the paint and recorded 38 rebounds. 

The Rams held the Drovers to 7 of 23 (30 percent) from the three-point line, and 33 of 69 from the field (47 percent.) There were a total of 58 free-throw attempts between the two teams. TXWES shot 14-21 from the free-throw line (66 percent, ) and USAO shot 29 of 37 at the free-throw line (78 percent.)

Junior Lamine Komara scored a team high 24 points on 10 of 15 shooting from the field. Senior Vydal Bradford scored 13 points in 18 minutes on 5 of 8 shooting from the field. Senior Davon Berry scored 10 points, and junior Kristian Lafayette scored 11 points.

The Rams are now 12-16 all-time against the Drovers. Texas Wesleyan travels to Oklahoma on Thursday, Feb. 3 to take on Langston at 7:45 p.m.
