Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

VB: Texas Wesleyan racked up another SAC win, this time with a 25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 25-20 win over Mid-America Christian University.

The Rams swept MACU on Sept. 17, but this time, the Evangels brought three of their own heavy hitters to send Texas Wesleyan into four games before getting the match win. The win improves the Rams' record to 20-3 overall and 14-1 in conference. The Evangels fall to 15-12in overall and 9-7 in conference play.

The first set started out close with the three ties before MACU went out to a 12-7 lead behind Ram errors and a MACU kill. A Ram timeout resulted in four unanswered points before the Evangels called timeout. Texas Wesleyan tied the game at 12-12 after the timeout, then MACU took a 14-12 lead. The Rams would tie the game again at 15 with kills from Kendal King and Sydney Charlton to shift the game's momentum. MACU tied the game again at 16, but from there, the Rams took control as MACU fell apart reeling off seven unanswered points to bring the score to 23-16. MACU was able to get two kills and capitalize on a Ram hitting error to bring the score to 24-19 before a Lauran Richards' kill hit home, giving Texas Wesleyan the first set 25-19.

The second set had the Rams jump out to a 9-3 lead behind kills from Maliah Linton, Charlton, Sydney Alexander, King and Richards. MACU could only score one more point before the Rams took back over and built a 13-4 lead behind Richards' hot hand. The Evangels tried to mount a comeback and capitalize on Ram errors and an attack, but they were only able to bring the score to 18-13 before the Rams took back over. Texas Wesleyan had match point four times before a Richards kill once again gave the Rams a 25-17 win.

MACU came out strong in the third set, keeping the game close until the Rams brought the game to a 9-9 tie. From there, five unanswered MACU points left the Rams at a 14-9 deficit. Texas Wesleyan was only able to come within one point of the Evangels from that point as MACU capitalized on Ram errors to win 25-21 and force a fourth game.

In the fourth game, both teams kept the game close with seven ties with the last a tie at 18-18. After that, the Rams never lost the lead, ending the game with a Richards kill and Emily Lewis service ace. The Rams won 25-20, taking the match in four games.

Richards led all players with 13 kills; Charlton had 12, and King had nine. King and Alexander also had two blocks each. Ruby O'Brien led all players with 41 assists and added 14 digs, while Andrea Malek once again led all players on defense with 37 digs in the game. Skylar Warde also had 21 digs in the match.

Texas Wesleyan hosts University of Science and Arts on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Sid Richardson Center at 1 p.m. The Rams swept the Drovers the last time the two met on Sept. 16 in Oklahoma. The Rams hold a 13-0 record against USAO overall.
