The win improves the Rams' record to 22-3 overall and 16-1 in conference. The Drovers fall to 8-15 overall and 4-14 in conference play.
The Rams dominated the game with 42 kills to USAO's 27 and nine aces to USAO's two.
Kendal King led the Rams' balanced attack with 11 kills, while
Sydney Charlton and
Lauran Richards had six each.
Skylar Warde and
Andrea Malek logged three service aces each, and 10 digs each.
Haley Harvey led all players with 12 digs, and
Ruby O'Brien led all players with 36 assists.
But that overall dominance wasn't clear at the beginning of the first set as the Drovers jumped out to a 9-4 lead. It wasn't until a side out at 11-6 had the Rams Talley behind Charlton, Richards and Maliah Linton to tied the game at 11-11. The Drovers were able to take the lead again at 13-11, but the Rams brought the service heat accounting for four of their nine service aces in the last part of the first set. Texas Wesleyan finished the set with kills from Alexander and Richards for a 25-16 win.
The second set had both teams trade leads until 5-5 when the Rams took possession and scored 10 points. The Drovers tried chipping away at the lead, but Texas Wesleyan continued its dominance at the net to win 25-12.
In the third game, the Rams jumped out an early lead at 12-4. The Drovers couldn't put a solid offense together as the Rams rolled to a 25-20 win for set three and the match.
Texas Wesleyan hosts Southwestern Christian University on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m., and Oklahoma City University on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. for their final home games. The Rams still sit in second place in SAC behind Southwestern Assemblies of God University, who are undefeated this season at 24-0. The Rams are ranked #24 in the latest NAIA national poll.
