The Texas Wesleyan Rams (8-2, 6-2 SAC) faced off against the North American Steers (2-7) Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas, at Farrington Field, for their first-ever meetup.
TXWES secured a homecoming victory over North American University, 61-7.Â
The Rams started the game with the defense stopping the Stallion's first drive in eight plays and forcing a 50-yard punt. The TXWES drive got going with a 20-yard pass from QB Carson Rodgers to WR Alize Thomas in the opening drive. Carson got the Rams the game's first score with a 56-yard touchdown pass to Thomas and a 2-point conversion by Dylan Pettway.Â
The TXWES defense came onto the field and forced an interception by DB Vondrice LaFrance to set up the offense for a chance to score. In a five-play drive for 23 yards, RB Ernie Ceasar scored a rushing touchdown of 9 yards, extending the Rams' lead to 14-0.Â
Following the score, the Rams' defense came back onto the field. DB Darius VanDyke grabbed an interception after an eight-play drive of 44 yards by North American University.
The possession of the ball changed hands several times before Ceasar would score a 3-yard rushing touchdown capping a seven-play drive of 65 yards, extending the lead for the Rams to 21-0.Â
The defense forced the Stallions to punt, resulting in WR Jaysen Price returning a punt 92-yards for a touchdown, including a 2-point conversion by K Gregory Blaser to TE Cameron "Cam" Chapman, increasing the lead for the Rams before the end of the half, 29-0.Â
Starting play in the second half, Carson completed a pass to Thomas for a touchdown of 34 yards within the first two minutes of the third quarter, ending in a missed extra point, giving the Rams a 35-0 lead.Â
The Rams' defense could not stop the Stallions' offense on the next drive, but the Rams were able to fire back with a two-play drive, ending with Carson throwing a touchdown pass to Ceasar for 49 yards.Â
After the Rams' defense forced the Stallions to punt once again, Carson completed a 9-yard touchdown pass capping an eight-play 53-yard drive, extending the lead for the Rams to 48-7.Â
Backup QB Kobe Gatson came onto the field after the Rams' defense forced another punt, completing a 25-yard touchdown pass to WR Phenol "PJ" Williams on an eight-play drive of 62 yards, including a failed field goal attempt.Â
The Rams' defense forced the Stallions to punt one last time as the fourth quarter was ending. RB AJ San Miguel scored on a 9-yard rushing touchdown within the last few minutes of the quarter, making the final score 61-7.Â
Carson finished with four passing touchdowns and 240 passing yards on 14-23. Most of the receptions went to wide receivers Thomas for 144 yards on seven catches and two touchdowns, Williams had 39 yards on three receptions with one touchdown, AJ Bobb had two receptions for 21 yards and one touchdown, and Ceasar had three receptions for 54 yards and one touchdown.Â
Ceasar led the rushing game for the Rams' offense finishing with 108 rushing yards on 17 attempts and two rushing touchdowns.Â

Running backs Ty Williams and San Miguel combined for 15 rushing attempts and 82 yards between them, with a touchdown from San Miguel.Â
DB Jamarrion "Jay" Reed led the way for the defense with five solo tackles, followed by a tie of three tackles between defensive linemen Sir Hill and Andrew Marshall, as well as LB Dylan Pettway finishing with three.Â
Defensive backs Dariun VanDyke and Vondrice LaFrance had the only interceptions for the defense.Â
Now 8-2 overall and 6-2 in the SAC, the Rams will play the Lyon College Scots (1-8, 0-8 SAC) in Fort Worth, Texas, at Farrington Field on Saturday, November 12th, at 2 PM. Â
