WBB: Lady Rams remain undefeated in SAC play after win at UNT-Dallas

Texas Wesleyans women's basketball (5-1, 3-0 SAC) walks out of Dallas, TX, victorious with a win over Sooner Athletic Conference opponent UNT-Dallas Trailblazers (5-1, 3-1 SAC) and stays undefeated in conference play.

The game is the third meeting between the two programs and favors Texas Wesleyan three games to zero. The last time these two teams played was back on January 22nd, 2022, in Dallas, TX and the Lady Rams walked away with a 74 to 56 win.

The Lady Rams bested the Trailblazers 78 to 62 in yesterday's game. Kertisa Amos, the leading scorer for Texas Wesleyan, cashed in on a season-high 34 points with a 56% shot percentage and a 72% free throw percentage. Zarria Carter scored 20 points and toughed out 13 rebounds to earn a double-double performance for the Lady Rams.
  
The glass was hot for the Lady Rams as they out rebounded the Trailblazers 55 to 34. Carter and Makayla Coy were the two players with double-digit rebounds. The duo accounted for 24 of the 55 total boards.

Personal fouls were another critical factor in the matchup, as UNT-Dallas had 30 and Texas Wesleyan only had 10. Opportunities at the line caused the Lady Rams to score 32 points from free throws. Amos made the most of the opportunities and led the way with 16 points from free throws.

The victory put the Lady Rams in a three-way tie for first place in the SAC standings, tied with Mid-America Christian University and the University of Science and Arts.

The Lady Rams next contest will be on the road Saturday against SAGU   in Waxahachie, TX, at 2 PM. The game will be the 22nd time the Lady Rams have played SAGU, with TXWES holding an all-time 12-9 advantage.
