MBB: Rams beat SAGU in overtime 86-84

TXWES Men's Basketball (4-4, 2-2 SAC) beat Southwestern Assemblies of God (7-3, 3-1 SAC) on the road Saturday in overtime, 86-84.

   

 The Rams led 38-28 going into halftime. TXWES shot 16-33 (48.5%) from the field, 5-15 (33.33%) from the three-point line and 1-2 (50%) from the free-throw line in the first half. In the second half, the Rams shot 9-28 (32.1%) from the field, 5-15 (33.3%) from the three-point line and 9-13 (69.2%) from the free throw line. In overtime, the Rams were able to shoot 3-7 (42.9%) from the field, 0-1 (0%) from the three-point line and 10-13 (76.9%) from the free throw line.

   

 For the game, TXWES was 28-68 (41.2%) from the field, 10-31 (32.3%) from the three-point line and 20-28 (71.4%) from the free-throw line. The Rams scored ten second-chance points, 26 points in the paint and 17 points off turnovers.

   

 TXWES held SAGU to 31-73 (42.5%) shooting from the field, 13-39 (33.3%) from the three-point line and 9-11 (81.8%) from the free-throw line. SAGU scored 30 points in the paint, 12 points off turnovers and eight second-chance points.

   

 Four Rams scored in double figures. Lamine Komara scored 30 points on 11-16 shooting, Peyton Sallee and Keyaun Hoskins each scored 14 and Akili Vining scored 13.

 The Rams next contest will be on the road Thursday, December 8, at Southwestern Christian University, with a scheduled tip-off for 7:45 PM. The Rams will play at home again on December 20 against North American University.
