LANGSTON, OK-- The Texas Wesleyan softball team (14-6, 8-2 SAC) defeated Langston University (7-11, 1-3) in both games of an SAC DH on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Rams won game one 8-3 and game two 9-0.
In game 1, Langston scored the first run of the game in the third inning on a home-run to take a 1-0 lead. TXWES responded in the fourth inning with a single by
Hailey Hernandez to knot the game at 1 heading into the fifth inning. The Lady Rams battled back in the top of the sixth with a single by
Izzy Valenzuela to make the score 2-1.
The Lady Rams exploded for six runs in the seventh inning to secure the win. The error started with
Kylie Summers scoring on an error and
Rhea-Ann Avalos hitting a single to score Dunn to extend the TXWES lead to 4-1.
Jaeley May hit a single up the middle to score
Breanna Leathers and
Izzy Valenzuela hit a double to score Avalos to extend the Lady Rams lead to 6-1.
Hailey Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly to score
Jaeley May to extend the lead to 7-1 and
Ajah Jackson drove in
Izzy Valenzuela to cap off the six run inning. TXWES used its offensive explosion in the seventh inning to propel it to victory.
Rhea-Ann Avalos recorded four hits and one RBI,
Izzy Valenzuela recorded two hits and two RBI's,
Hailey Hernandez recorded three hits and two RBI's, and Kylee Summers recorded three hits.
Dylann Kaderka picks up the win, pitching seven innings and recorded four strikeouts.
In game two, solid pitching and electric bats propelled the Lady Rams to a 9-0 victory. To start the game

Kylie Summers to give TXWES a 1-0 lead. The Lady Rams scored four runs in the the second inning to create separation from Langston.
TXWES put the game away in the fourth inning with a two-run home-run by
Rhea-Ann Avalos to make the score 9-0.
Taylor Tubbs pitched a complete game shutout allowing no runs and three hits in 22 batters faced.
The Lady Rams have now won 13 out of its last 16 games, including eight in a row at one point. TXWES will face Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Tuesday, March 22 at 1 and 3 p.m.
