FORT WORTH-- The Texas Wesleyan softball team (15-9, 9-5 SAC) suffered two conference losses to USAO (21-4, 6-2) on Friday afternoon at Sycamore Park. USAO won game one 4-0 and game two 4-3.
In game 1, dominant pitching and solid defense kept the Lady Rams in the game. Through four innings of play, there was only one hit between the two teams. USAO scored the first run of the game in the fifth inning on an error. The Drovers scored on a double down the left-field line to take a 2-0 lead heading into the sixth inning.
USAO tacked on two more runs to secure a 4-0 victory.
Taylor Tubbs pitched 7 innings, recording six strikeouts and giving up five hits.
In game two, the Lady Rams gave a valiant effort to almost defeat the Drovers. USAO scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead. TXWES battled back in the bottom half of the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly by
Jaeley May to cut the deficit to two runs.
The Drovers cushioned its lead in the sixth inning by tacking on one run to take a 4-1 lead.
Rhea-Ann Avalos crushed a two-run homerun to make the score 4-3. TXWES had one last chance to score in the bottom of the seventh inning, but was not able to capitalize as the Lady Rams lost 4-3.
Dylann Kaderka recorded four strikeouts, gave up four runs, and five hits in 25 batters faced.
Brynna Foster went 2 for 3 and
Rhea-Ann Avalos recorded one homerun and two RBI's.
TXWES will face MACU in a DH tomorrow at Sycamore Park at 2 and 4 p.m.
