FORT WORTH—The Texas Wesleyan baseball team (27-16, 13-8 SAC) used a solid 5th inning at the plate in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader against Mid-American Christian (24-14, 10-8) 9-6 at Sycamore Park in a Sooner Athletic showdown.
The Ram's defense gave up several runs in the first three innings of the game, yet were able to have a strong showing in the 5th to help secure the first win of the afternoon. In the second inning, MACU was able to score three runs.
Marcos Sanchez got the Rams on the board with a solo home run. Leaving TXWES down by two runs after two innings.

Garrett Moltzan gave up two more runs in the fourth inning with a home run to left-center in his last inning. Giving MACU a four-run lead over TXWES.The RAMS bats came alive in the fifth inning when
Manny Luna doubled to left-center, driving in
Chaesten Chon and
Tomas Sanchez. TXWES loaded the bases later when
Marcos Sanchez went to the plate and hit a double up the middle of the infield scoring
Joseph Barfield and
Manny Luna. The offensive explosion continued with J. Sosa hitting a single and driving in two runs.
Greyson Barrett ended the scoring by hitting a two-run homer.

Garrett Moltzan started game two going three innings and giving up six hits and five runs.
Jaxon Ingram came in relief and faced one batter. He had his only batter ground out to end the inning for the RAMS and secure his first win of the season.
David Theriot came in for two innings of relief work and the save, giving TXWES the first win in the doubleheader.The Ram's hot bats carried over to the second game of the day.
Manny Luna hit a triple to start the Rams explosion.
Joseph Barfield hit a double that was able to drive home
Marcos Sanchez to tie the game at one run each. Grayson Barrett hit a home run to left field, driving in Barfield and a three run lead. J. Sosa was also able to hit a home run giving TXWES a lead they would never surrender.
TXWES was able to add three more runs in the second inning with a H. Hutchins single that drove home
Chaesten Chon. Barfield was able to hit a two run home run off the scoreboard in left field.
TXWES was able to add two more runs in fourth Hutchens who lead the inning by getting hit. Sanchez hit a double advancing Hutchins to third. Hutchins was able to score on Barfield ground out to second base. Barrett was hit by a pitch and able to advance to second on a throwing error by the pitcher, allowing Sanchez to score and give the Rams a five run lead.
In the fifth four more runs were scored with the help of three homeruns in the inning. Hutchins was first with a two run shot. The next batter Sanchez was able to hit a solo shot. Followed by another Barfield home run, this time to right center. J. Ward got the start and a no decision giving up two runs on four hits in a little over an innings worth of work.
Ian Landreneau came in for a couple of innings of solid relief and claim the win improving his record to 3-4.
TXWES will face Bacone College on Friday April 22 at 1 and 3 p.m.
