OKLAHOMA CITY-- The Texas Wesleyan baseball team (24-15, 10-7 SAC) lost both games of a DH against #5 Oklahoma City (33-3, 12-2) by slim margins. TXWES dropped game one 2-1 in extra innings and lost game two 4-1.
In game one, pitching dominated, which made runs hard to come by. In the bottom half of the first inning, OCU hit a homerun blast to take an early 1-0 lead. After the first inning, neither team allowed a run until the seventh inning.
TXWES evened the score at one in the top of the seventh inning after a sacrifice fly by
Manny Luna to score
JD Padgett. OCU hit a walk-off single in extra innings to seal a 2-1 victory.Â
Garrett Bodine pitched 4 innings, allowing four hits and one earned run. He also recorded seven strikeouts.
Morgan McCloud pitched 2.1 innings, allowing two hits and one earned run. McCloud also recorded four strikeouts.
Jake Ervin, Aiden Kenny, and
Chaesten Chon all recorded three hits.
In game two, pitching controlled the pace of play. OCU took control of the game early, scoring four runs in the first three innings. In the fifth inning,
Manny Luna singled down the line to score
Greyson Barrett for the Rams only run of the game.
The stars held TXWES scoreless for the rest of the game to secure a 4-1 victory.
Morgan McCloud pitched two innings, allowing two hits and two earned runs.
Garrett Moltzan recorded a sold outing, pitching 3.2 innings and striking out five batters. TXWES will finish the three game series with OCU at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
