VB: Rams Sweep Oklahoma Panhandle to Keep Perfect SAC Record

The Rams remain undefeated in SAC play with a sweep of Oklahoma Panhandle State University 25-14, 25-14, 28-26.

The win is the fourth sweep of SAC opponents by Texas Wesleyan putting the Rams at 4-0 in conference play and 9-2 overall.

In set one, Kendal King and Katelyn Mallett had the hot hands with six and five kills, respectively. The duo had 13 kills each for the match, and Mallet's defense was also on point in the game with five digs.

In the second set, Mallett continued to roll for the Rams. Andrea Malek helped stop the Aggies' offense with six digs in the second set. She posted 20 digs for the game.

But it was the third set that provided the biggest test for the Rams in SAC play thus far. Oklahoma Panhandle battled back and moved ahead several times, working to send the Rams into a fourth set for the first time in SAC play this season. When the Aggies' coach questioned a line call at 19-19, the Rams took over the momentum behind a King kill. Oklahoma answered with a kill, but a Mallett kill gave the ball back to the Rams and a 21-20 lead.

Oklahoma Panhandle wasn't willing to give up so easily as the lead continued to change hands several times before Wesleyan wrapped up the sweep with a 28-26 win.

Catherine Wise had 21 assists, and Ruby O'Brien had 20 assists and seven digs during the match. Skylar Warde also turned in a solid defensive performance for the Rams with nine digs.

The Rams hit the road on Sept. 16 as they travel to Oklahoma for a match against the University of Science and Arts then play Mid-America Christian University on Sept. 17. The Rams are currently tied with Southwestern Assemblies of God University at 4-0 in SAC play and are on a six-game win streak.
