The Lady Rams lost to Louisiana State University Shreveport 5-1 in a non-conference game Sept. 14 on the road.
The loss puts Texas Wesleyan at 2-5-0 overall. LSU Shreveport remains undefeated at 4-0-1.
This is the seventh time the two teams have met with Texas Wesleyan holding a 5-2 advantage over the Pilots.
In the first period,
Tameir Grosvenor got the Lady Rams going with a goal at the 19:38 mark. The Pilots couldn't get going, missing four corner kick opportunities and shooting high and wide on several shots. It wasn't until almost 37 minutes into the game when the Pilots' Kirsten Nolan scored to end the half at a 1-1 tie.
In the second period, LSU Shreveport got out to a quick start with goals at the 46:28 and 48:12 marks to bring the score to 3-1. The Lady Ram offense couldn't seem to get going with only two shots in the second half, while the Pilots were able to score four of their five goals.
LSU Shreveport's Melike Dincel scored the last goal of the game at the 86:57 mark to give the Pilots the 5-1 win.
Texas Wesleyan was outshot by the Pilots 14-7, with five Lady Ram shots on goal to eight for the Pilots. Grosvenor had three shots on goal and scored once in her 90 minutes of play.
The game was a homecoming of sorts for the Lady Rams with Head Coach
Josh Gibbs facing off against former colleague Dejan Milosevic, who is a Texas Wesleyan alumnus and served as associate head coach of Texas Wesleyan's men's soccer team before taking over as head coach at LSU Shreveport. The Lady Rams also faced former teammate
Marlye Francis, who transferred to LSU Shreveport.
Texas Wesleyan returns home on Sept. 20 to face Arlington Baptist University. This will be the second time the two programs have met with the Lady Rams taking the first win 12-1.
