VB: Rams Take Three from MACU, Jump to Number 1 in SAC Standings

The Rams closed out a road weekend in straight sets 25-17, 25-23, 25-15 over Mid-America Christian University to keep their sweep streak alive.

Texas Wesleyan remains undefeated in Sooner Athletic Conference play at 6-0. The Rams are 11-2 overall.

"I am very proud of our team and the way they finished this road trip strong," Head Coach Jessica Ransom said. "MACU is another solid opponent, so we are glad to be coming home with a win."

The Rams came into the game against MACU with a spotless record against the Evangels at 22-0. They had also come off of a three-set sweep of USAO on Friday night behind the offensive power of Kendal King and Lauran Richards. The duo didn't disappoint against MACU.

King led the Rams' attackers with 15 kills, while Richards had 11 and Grace Pavelka logged six kills. Texas Wesleyan's solid offense was more than MACU could handle with the Rams posting 44 kills to MACU's 30.

Ruby O'Brien logged 21 assists and racked up 11 digs, to go along with her two service aces. Andrea Malek led all defenders from both teams for two days in a row, this time with 23 digs for the match. Again, the Rams' defense held MACU at bay with 70 digs to MACU's 63.

"The conference road does not get any easier," Ransom said, "so we will take one game at a time with a very busy week ahead."

The Rams will return home Tuesday, Sept. 20 for a non-conference match against Wiley College before heading back on the road Friday, Sept. 23, to face two other Oklahoma teams in SAC play, Oklahoma City University and Southwestern Christian University.

The Rams lead SAC after their win over MACU at 6-0. Southwestern Assemblies of God University is also undefeated at 5-0 and 13-0 overall. The two will meet at the Sid Richardson Center on Sept. 27.
