The Lady Rams (2-1-0) played Friends University (2-1-0) on Thursday night at Gateway Park and lost their first game of the season 1-0.
The Lady Rams were outshot in the contest, with Friends University having 18 shots, with five being on goal. Compared to the Lady Rams, five shots with two on goal. TXWES saved all shots in the contest except one that was able to slip past TXWES goalie 
Alex Ortiz.
The Lady Rams struggled to get anything going offensively but controlled the ball for most of the match. Friends University created four shots in the first ten minutes of the game. It was not until the 12-minute mark that TXWES could have their first shot from 
Cara Zwilling that Friends University saved.
In a very physical match, the Lady Rams were called for 12 fouls, compared to 11 by Friends University. The most costly of those fouls came late in the second half when TXWES 
Tameir Grosvenor was named for one near field on a break-away opportunity.
The Lady Rams did not have a corner kick in the match, compared to five corner kicks for Friends University. Friend University was able to capitalize on this advantage, scoring the match's only goal at the 61-minute mark.
The Lady Rams' next contest will be against the University of Houston in Victoria on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 5 PM. The Lady Rams will play the match on the TXWES campus at Martin Field.
