WSOC: Lady Rams fall to the University of Houston at Victoria

Texas Wesleyan posted its second loss at home to the University of Houston-Victoria 3-1. 

The University of Houston-Victoria stopped Texas Wesleyan's offense in the second period after the Rams got off to a quick 1-0 lead.

The Rams took the lead at 20:38 in the first period when Tameir  Grosvenor's corner kick found Kathyana Jasso to set the Rams up for a good shot at goal. Grosvenor's shot was good with an assist by Jasso to send the Rams up 1-0.

Texas Wesleyan continued to pound at the Jaguars, but the University of Houston-Victoria's Clara Strand scored at 40:44 in the first period to tie the score going into the second period. 

Texas Wesleyan's Goalie Alex Ortiz posted save-after-save in the second period, but the Jaguars were able to slip a shot past Ortiz to put Houston-Victoria up 2-1. 

Cara Zwilling tried to bring the Rams to the table, but her shots proved wide.

With 84:17 in the game, Houston-Victoria sent another ball into the net as Estelle Flanagan scored the third and final goal of the game, sealing the win for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars are unbeaten for the season, but this is the second home loss for the Rams, bringing their record to 2-2. 

The Rams take on Texas A&M University-Texarkana on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m. at Martin Field before heading back on the road
