WSOC: Texas Wesleyan Secures a 2-0 Victory over Wayland Baptist on Senior Day

Fort Worth, TX - In a soccer showdown, Texas Wesleyan emerged victorious with a 2-0 win against Wayland Baptist at Kramer Field in Fort Worth, TX, on Saturday.

The match began with both teams showing great determination. Wayland Baptist (TX) attempted 16 shots, with eight on goal, while Texas Wesleyan had 12 shots, five of which were on target.

The first half of the game was a hard-fought battle, with neither team managing to break the deadlock. Goalkeepers Dayanara Torres for Wayland Baptist and Milan Carroll for Texas Wesleyan made crucial saves to keep their teams level.

The turning point of the match came in the second half. At the 68:25 mark, Texas Wesleyan's Alexa Bezpalko managed to find the back of the net, assisted by Mary Leeper. This first goal ignited the Texas Wesleyan side and set the stage for a second goal.

Just over ten minutes later, at the 79:33 mark, Kiki Molinar of Texas Wesleyan struck the ball into the net, extending their lead to 2-0. The Wayland Baptist team tried to bounce back, but Texas Wesleyan's defense, coupled with solid goalkeeping, held firm to maintain their lead.

Ultimately, Texas Wesleyan's performance secured them a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Wayland Baptist. With this win, Texas Wesleyan continued to showcase their strong season, with a record of 8-8-1, including 5-5-0 in their conference, while Wayland Baptist faced a tough loss, holding a record of 4-10-2, with a conference record of 3-7-0.

Three seniors were honored for their time at Texas Wesleyan before the contest, including Kathyana Jasso from Houston, TX, Sierra Reich from Glendora, CA and Kiki Molinar from Corinth, TX.

The Rams will next play on the road in the opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, with the brackets scheduled to be released on Sunday.
