Fort Worth, TX. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the qualifying teams and NAIA Championship Opening Round matchups for the 2023 NAIA Women's Volleyball Championship. Texas Wesleyan was selected as one of the home sites and will host Oklahoma Wesleyan.
Texas Wesleyan are no strangers to the NAIA National Tournament as this is the sixth consecutive year the Rams had advanced to the opening round. The Rams enter the match 26-5 on the season and received their automatic bid through wining the first Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Championship in program history.
Oklahoma Wesleyan finished the season 27-4 and earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament after winning the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship and the Tournament Championship. This is the first time the Lady Eagles are given the opportunity to compete on the national stage, as they look to capture a win in their debut in an opening round match-up.
After NAIA Championship Opening Rounds, the action at the final site inside the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, starts with three days of pool play from November 29 – December 1. The top team of each pool will advance to the elimination bracket, starting with the quarterfinals, on Saturday, December 2. The semifinals will be played on Monday, December 4, and the national champion will be crowned Tuesday, December 5, with the first serve set for 7 p.m. CST on ESPN3.
With a trip to Sioux City on the line join us for the final game inside of the Sid Richardson Center. The game will be played in Fort Worth, TX on Saturday at 6 PM. Tickets are priced at $10, children under 10 are free.
