FB: Rams Secure Road Victory at Langston

On Saturday, No. 16 Texas Wesleyan traveled on the road to Langston, OK, to play Langston University in a SAC matchup.

From the opening kick-off, Texas Wesleyan wasted no time asserting their dominance. Their offense surged forward with unrelenting force, and the scoreboard came alive with the thunderous cheers of their supporters. Vernon Harrison, a force to be reckoned with, led the charge, dashing through Langston's defense to secure two electrifying touchdowns. The first was a gritty 3-yard push, while the second was a breathtaking 44-yard sprint down the field. But Harrison was not alone in this offensive showcase. Ernest Ceasar joined the spectacle with a 12-yard touchdown run of his own.

When the dust settled at the end of the first quarter, the scoreboard read Texas Wesleyan 21, Langston 0. The crowd could hardly contain their excitement.

Texas Wesleyan's defense proved unyielding, frustrating Langston's every attempt to make a comeback. With their defense holding firm, Texas Wesleyan managed to add more points to their tally. A safety increased their lead to 23-0, and then Gerrit Blodgett's precise leg booted a 38-yard field goal through the uprights, extending their lead even further to 26-0.

As the teams headed to the locker rooms for halftime, the scoreboard remained an imposing Texas Wesleyan 26, Langston 0. Texas Wesleyan was commanding the game, but there was still more action to come.

Langston came back from halftime with renewed determination. In the third quarter, they finally managed to break through the Texas Wesleyan defense. Kevin Allen, Jr. displayed his agility by catching an 11-yard pass from Wrentie Martin, and the crowd erupted as Langston celebrated their first touchdown of the game. However, their joy could have been more-lived, as they missed the extra point.

Texas Wesleyan was quick to respond. Carson Rodgers rumbled for a 5-yard touchdown run, increasing their lead. Langston did manage to find the end zone once more with a 47-yard pass from Wrentie Martin to Bryon Hanspard. But much to their chagrin, the extra point proved elusive once again.

As the third quarter drew to a close, the score stood at Texas Wesleyan 34, Langston 12, leaving fans wondering if a dramatic comeback was still in the cards for Langston.

The final quarter saw Texas Wesleyan maintaining their grip on the game. Javari Sanders, an embodiment of their formidable defense, seized a Langston pass and raced 47 yards in the opposite direction to score a spectacular interception return touchdown.

Langston, however, refused to go down without a fight. Wrentie Martin connected with Bryan Perry, resulting in a 17-yard touchdown pass. It was a beautiful play, but it wasn't enough to change the course of the game.

As the clock wound down, the scoreboard declared Texas Wesleyan, the triumphant victors with a final score of Texas Wesleyan 42, Langston 19.

The victory clears the way for a munch anticipated game against Louisiana Christian on November 11 at Crowley Multi-Purpose Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 2 p.m.
