DALLAS, TX – Texas Wesleyan University gained its second win on the season with a 71-55 win over Paul Quinn College on Saturday Afternoon.
Turnovers plagued the Rams early on during the first quarter as they dug themselves into a 17-10 hole. At the 8:25 mark of the second quarter the lead had grown to 22-10 Paul Quinn. Then, over the next 41 minutes the Rams would go on to outscore their opponents 53-20, with the score at 63-42 at the 7:30 mark of the final quarter.
Though they shot 21% from beyond, the Rams were 25-60 from the field and were dominate at the free throw line knocking down 18-22 shots.
Rikeyah Gant would lead all players with 18 points and six rebounds.
Maliah LaCour added 10 points of her own while Savannah Smith and Peyton Forster each added eight points in the win.
Head coach Scott Hyland praised his players for taking care of business on the road after a slow start.
"
Rikeyah Gant really stepped up and had some big buckets in the post. Kobi LaCour had a couple big rebound put backs as well to spark us. We need to take better care of the ball. We are just too turnover prone right now. We addressed some communication issues on defense at half and I thought we defended in the half court much better the second half."

Oklahoma Wesleyan University set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on Monday.
