The Texas Wesleyan Baseball Team (6-1) fell to Clarke (IA) University (2-2) for their first loss of the season at the Cajun Collision Tournament on Friday morning at the Sterlington Sports Complex.
The Rams kept it close to start, trailing by two runs through 5 innings, eventually falling late in the game.
TJ Tomlinson scored the lone run for the Rams on an infield sacrifice fly by
Jose Sosa in the bottom of the 6th inning.
The Ram's bats produced four hits in total, with Tomlinson,
Jonathan Pena, and
Brandon Rincones each getting on base with singles.
The Rams had a chance to score in the 3rd inning when
Tomas Sanchez hit a double to center field and advanced to 3rd on a stolen base.
He was eventually left on base after
Brandon Rincones lined out to the shortstop to end the inning.
Garrett Bodine went five innings, giving up four runs and striking out four batters.
He was replaced by
David Theriot, who quickly gave up two runs in the top of the sixth.
Jaxon Ingram finished the game, giving up three runs in the sixth inning and five more in the seventh.
The Rams could not come back from the 11-run deficit, closing the game with three quick outs to end the game 12-1.
