Game Recap: Softball |

SB: Lady Rams fall to Ottawa of Kansas at Home

GAME 1
Texas Wesleyan's softball team lost to Ottawa University, with a final score of 8-0. The game occurred on February 17th, 2023, at Sycamore Park in Fort Worth, Texas. The game was marked by a poor performance from the Texas Wesleyan offense, which was unable to score any runs during the game.

Texas Wesleyan pitching struggled to contain the powerful Ottawa hitters, with Taylor Tubbs receiving the loss after allowing three runs in three innings pitched. Alyssa Mercer pitched six innings for Ottawa and gave up only four hits, earning her the win.

The team managed only four hits during the game, with only two players, Ajah Jackson and Kylie Summers, able to hit safely more than once. Krysta White was the only player to pinch-hit during the game and managed to get on base with a hit.

The game saw some defensive errors on both sides, with Texas Wesleyan's Jaeley May committing an error in the fourth inning, leading to a missed double-play opportunity. On the other hand, Ottawa's catcher Delgado was charged with a passed ball in the sixth inning.

Despite the loss, there are some positives to take away from the game for Texas Wesleyan. Pitcher Alyssa Garcia had a good performance, allowing no runs in two innings pitched.

GAME 2
In the second game, Texas Wesleyan's softball team lost to Ottawa, 8-0. The game was played at Sycamore Park in Fort Worth, Texas, and lasted only five innings. The loss brought Texas Wesleyan's record to 1-6 for the season, while Ottawa improved to 6-0.

Pitching for Texas Wesleyan was Brynna Foster, who unfortunately suffered her third loss of the season.

The game began with a scoreless first and second inning for both teams, but Ottawa quickly took control of the game in the third inning. The team managed to score eight runs in the inning thanks to a series of hits, walks, and errors by Texas Wesleyan's defense.

Texas Wesleyan's offense struggled against Ottawa's strong pitching, managing only four hits during the entire game.

Ottawa, meanwhile, took advantage of Texas Wesleyan's mistakes and put up a solid defense, holding the Rams scoreless for the entire game. Ottawa's Hannah Copeland and Macey Morris led the way with two RBIs apiece, and Katie Enneking and Kelcie Kippes added RBIs.

Despite the loss, Texas Wesleyan's Rhea-Ann Avalos, Krysta White, Arianna Lopez, and Jaeley May all managed to get hits against Ottawa's pitching.

The Lady Rams will look to bounce back from this loss and find their footing as the season progresses. The team has plenty of talent and potential, and with more experience and practice, they should be able to improve their record and compete against tough opponents like Ottawa.
