MBB: Rams Fall in Final Seconds to Southwestern Christian

The TXWES Men's Basketball (12-12, 9-9 SAC) lost to Southwestern Christian University (10-11, 9-9 SAC) on Saturday, 77-76.
   
 The Rams trailed 39-35 going into halftime. TXWES shot 11-32 (34.38%) from the field, 9-22 (40.91%) from the three-point line and 4-4 (100%) from the free-throw line in the first half. In the second half, the Rams shot 13-36 (36.11%) from the field, 6-13 (46.15%) from the three-point line and 9-10 (90%) from the free throw line.
   
 For the game, TXWES was 24-68 from the field (35.20%), 15-35 from the three-point line (42.9%), and 13-14 from the free-throw line (92.9%). The Rams scored four second-chance points, 16 points in the paint, and 11 points off turnovers.
   
 TXWES contained SWCU to 26-52 shooting from the field (50%), 7-19 from the three-point line (36.8%) and 18-27 from the free-throw line (59.7%). SWCU scored 26 points in the paint, nine points off turnovers and three second-chance points.
   
 Four Rams scored in double figures. Peyton Sallee led the Rams with 25 points, going 7-12 from the three-point range in 27 minutes. Akili Vining, who fouled out of the game late, scored 17 points in 37 minutes. Gavin Harris scored 12 points in 40 minutes, and Lamine Komara scored 10.

 The Rams' next game is against Central Christian College of Kansas, on Feb. 9, in the Sid Richardson Center, with tip-off scheduled for 7:45 PM.
