After spending only two seasons playing for the basketball program, senior forward Kertisa Amos has etched her name in the Texas Wesleyan University record book forever. Amos is just the 16th player to score 1,000 points in Program. This Is a monumental feat to accomplish as Amos arrived to the program in 2021 as a transfer from Hill College.
"It feels great," Amos said"Â Honestly, it wasn't a goal of mine to reach 1,000 points until I saw how close I was to it."Â
The reigning SAC Player of the Year and Defensive player of the year started in all 32 games and averaged 16.3Â points a game.
"It was definitely a blessing from God. There's no way I would've even been close to getting it without my coaches and my team."
The recently named  WBCA NAIA National Coach finalist, Coach Brenita Jackson spoke highly of her Amos who was her first signee coming into the program.
"She is the hardest working player," Jackson said. "She stays humble and continues to challenge herself to be better."
" She bought into the vision we had to turn this program around. We are so proud of Kertisa and all that she has done in the last two seasons."
The Lady Rams hold a 52-13 record in the last two seasons and finished this season as the Sooner Athletic Conference regular season Champions. The team also made an appearance in the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship, advancing to the round of 16 for the first time in program history.
Amos received a WBCA NAIA Coaches' All-America honorable mention for you effort this past season. She again credits her team and coaches for being to accomplish this goal - "there's no way I would've been recognized."
