Texas Wesleyan University's baseball team suffered a defeat at the hands of Texas Southern University on Tuesday, 9-7.
The game started with both teams remaining scoreless in the first inning. However, Texas Southern took the lead in the second inning by scoring two runs. Jeffry Mercado's sacrifice fly allowed D. Adderley to score the first run for Texas Southern. Later in the same inning, Chase Cromer's single allowed Justin Blogg to advance to second, and Alexander Olivo scored a run, bringing the score to 2-0 in favor of Texas Southern.
In the fourth inning, Texas Wesleyan finally managed to get on the scoreboard with a home run by
Tomas Sanchez. The fifth inning saw
Jonathan Pena's home run that tied the game at 2-2. In the sixth inning, Texas Wesleyan took the lead with a three-run homer by
Greyson Barrett, which brought in
Hayden Hutchins and Sanchez.
However, Texas Southern came back strong in the seventh inning, scoring seven runs. Daalen Adderley's single allowed Gaberial Vasquez to advance to second, and Jaden Jones scored a run, bringing the score to 5-3. Texas Southern's  Olivo hit a three-run homer, which allowed Adderley and Vasquez to score, bringing the score to 5-6. Roderick Coffee also hit a two-run homer, allowing  Mercado to score and bringing the score to 5-8. Cromer then stole third and scored, bringing the score to 5-9.
In the eighth inning, Texas Wesleyan's Barrett hit another homer, bringing in Hutchins and making the score 7-9. However, Texas Wesleyan could not score any more runs, and Texas Southern won.
Despite the loss, Texas Wesleyan had some impressive performances. Sanchez scored two runs and hit a homer in the fourth inning, while Barrett hit two homers and brought in five runs for the team.Â
In the end, Texas Southern's offense proved too much for Texas Wesleyan, as they scored seven runs in the seventh inning alone.
