BB: Rams Sweep OPSU in Final Home Series of Season

The Rams defeated Oklahoma Panhandle 10-4 in the final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon. Justin Ward was awarded the win for the Rams, while Esai Torres took the loss for the Aggies.

The game saw some impressive offensive and defensive performances. In the third inning, OPSU's Jhonn Cabrera singled to left field, driving in Alejandro Hernandez and putting the team ahead 1-0. Shortly after, Jose Arrieta doubled to left center, scoring Jeremy Dibartolo and Cabrera and extending the lead to 3-0. TXWES fought back in the bottom of the third when Tomas Sanchez singled to left center, driving in TJ Tomlinson and bringing the score to 3-1. OPSU scored one more run in the fourth inning when Hernandez grounded into a double play, allowing Aamir Magras to score, increasing the lead to 4-1.

The Rams began their comeback in the fourth inning when Carson Cheaney hit a sacrifice fly to left field, driving in Grayson Barrett and cutting the lead to 4-2. In the fifth inning, Jose Sosa hit a sacrifice fly to right-center field, driving in Kevin Santiago, bringing the score to 4-4. Tex. Wesleyan took the lead in the sixth inning when Sanchez hit a double to left field, driving in Tomlinson and Hayden Hutchens, putting the team ahead 6-4. In the seventh inning, TXWES continued their domination when Cheaney hit a single through the left side, driving in Brandon Rincones. Tomlinson hit a single through the left side, driving in Hutchens and Manny Luna, bringing the score to 9-4. Santiago hit a single to left field, driving in Tomlinson, sealing the team's victory with a final score of 10-4.

On the defensive side, the Rams performed exceptionally, only allowing six hits from the Aggies. The victory was thanks to the outstanding pitching of Justin Ward, who allowed only four runs over seven innings. TXWES also committed only one error, compared to OPSU's lone error. Despite the loss, OPSU had some solid performances from their batters, with Cabrera, Dibartolo and Arrieta all getting hits and RBIs.
