PLAINVIEW, Texas (Wilder Field) - Texas Wesleyan (31-11, 14-5 SAC) took a 5-2 win over Wayland Baptist (TX) (24-18, 9-10 SAC) on Friday.Â
In the first inning, Texas Wesleyan's Brandon Rincones homered to left field, scoring the game's first run. Wayland Baptist answered back in the same inning with a single by Arturo Disla that tied the game.
The score remained tied until the fifth inning when Texas Wesleyan's offense came to life. Rincones singled to center field, scoring Hutchens, which was followed by Greyson Barrett's double to right center, bringing in two more runs. Later in the inning, Jonathan Pena's single through the right side scored Barrett, giving Texas Wesleyan a 5-1 lead.
Wayland Baptist made an effort in the seventh inning with a home run by Delvis Claudio but more was needed to catch up with Texas Wesleyan. The game ended 5-2, with Sutton Tidwell and David Theriot pitching for Texas Wesleyan and T. Jackson on the mound for Wayland Baptist.

Wayland Baptist (TX) defeated Texas Wesleyan (31-12, 14-6 SAC) 9-6 in a college baseball game played on April 21, 2023, at Wilder Field in Plainview, Texas. Â
The game had a slow start for Texas Wesleyan, with Wayland Baptist taking an early lead of 5-1 in the first inning. Although Texas Wesleyan managed to reduce the gap, Wayland Baptist's solid offensive game proved too much for them, and they could not take the lead.
Texas Wesleyan scored six runs on ten hits, but their defense faltered, committing three errors that resulted in three unearned runs. The team's offensive highlights included Kevin Santiago's two-run homer in the second inning and Hayden Hutchins' solo home run in the same inning.
