CROWLEY, TX — Texas Wesleyan University secured a 31-16 victory against Oklahoma Panhandle State University at Crowley ISD Stadium on Saturday.
The game featured exciting plays, turnovers, and a dominant second-half performance by Texas Wesleyan.
The game started with a field goal from Texas Wesleyan's
Gerrit Blodgett, setting the tone for the night. However, Oklahoma Panhandle State quickly responded with a field goal of their own from Alan Munoz, tying the score at 3-3. OPSU then took the lead when Brandon Stephen scored a touchdown with a 1-yard run, putting them ahead 10-3 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Blodgett hit another field goal for Texas Wesleyan, making it 10-6. OPSU extended their lead with a touchdown pass from Brandon Stephen to Draylon Roberso. However, Texas Wesleyan answered back with a remarkable 97-yard PAT return by
Javari Sanders. The first half ended with OPSU leading 16-8.
The second half belonged to Texas Wesleyan. Ernest Ceasar had an incredible 73-yard run for a touchdown, bringing the score to 16-14. In the fourth quarter, Texas Wesleyan continued to dominate with touchdowns from Ernest Ceasar and
Carson Rodgers and another field goal from
Gerrit Blodgett, securing their 31-16 victory.
Impressive plays on both sides of the ball highlighted the game, but Texas Wesleyan's second-half performance proved to be the difference-maker. Texas Wesleyan improved to 3-0 with this win, while Oklahoma Panhandle State University's record fell to 1-2.
The Rams will play at home this Saturday against St. Thomas University out of Florida, with kickoff scheduled for noon.
