VB: Rams Defend Home Court

FORT WORTH, TX: The No. 20 Texas Wesleyan University (7-3, 2-0) continued their win streak with a 3-1 Central Christian College (3-5, 0-2) at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday. The Rams took down the Tigers in a hard fought four set match (25-15, 16-25, 25-14, 25-14)

In the first set, the Rams handled the tigers with ease as they jumped out to a 19-9 lead. The Tigers would continue to do their best to close the gap, but a Hanna Rubis kill would end the match at 25-15.

The second set saw the Tigers serve their way to a 5-0 lead over the Rams. Texas Wesleyan would struggle to gain momentum against this scrappy Central College team who out hit the Rams in the second set on 28 attempts with 12 kills and five errors. The match would be all tied up at 12, but the tigers would go on a 6-1 run and the Rams were unable to close the gap after that. The tigers would steal set two 25-15.

In the all-important third set, the Rams found their footing and were able to take care of business. The two teams would battle up until the double-digit mark before the Rams would take a slight lead. The Tigers would claw their way back up, but after a timeout called form Texas Wesleyan, the Rams finished the set on a 12-2 run for a final score 0f 25-14.
Much like the third set the Rams would strike first and not let up on the Tigers. The Ram's offense took over and they were able to close out the set 25-14

Senior Sydney Charlton posted 12 kills, three errors, on 31 attempts, hitting .419 in the win. Hanna Rubis added 13 kills of her own followed by Kendal King with eight. Ruby O'Brien had a season high 32 assists and Andrea notched 21 digs.

The Lady Rams will continue their home game stint with a match against USAO on Thursday, September 7 starting at 7:00 pm.
