MBB: Rams Fall to Golden Eagles on Final Shot

On Thursday, TXWES lost a hard-fought battle, narrowly losing to John Brown University 72-69 at the Sid Richardson Center.  

During the first half, the Rams secured a slight lead, heading into halftime with a score of 33-31. However, John Brown mounted a strong comeback in the second half, outscoring their opponents 34-32.  

TXWES Adetokunbo Bakare led the scoring charge with an impressive 27 points, showcasing accuracy with 7-16 field goals and a perfect 10-10 from the free-throw line. 

Isaiah Marin and Kris Lafayette contributed significantly, with 13 and 10 points, respectively. 

Despite their efforts, the team faced challenges, particularly in three-point shooting (7-22) and turnovers (17).  

For the Golden Eagles, Drew Miller scored 20 points, going 7-14 from the floor, including three successful three-pointers. 

Tyren Collins and Lukas Gabani also made noteworthy contributions, scoring 19 and 10 points, respectively.

Ultimately, John Brown secured the win, elevating their record to 10-5 (8-2 SAC), while Texas Wesleyan fell to 4-12 (2-8 SAC).  

The Rams will next travel on the road to Oklahoma City on Saturday to play Oklahoma City University, with tip-off scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
