In a competitive Sooner Athletic Conference match-up the Texas Wesleyan University Rams fell short 55-50 to No. 21 John Brown University on Thursday inside of the Sid Richardson Center.

After two quarters of play Texas Wesleyan would hold a 25-21 lead over the undefeated in conference play Golden Eagles of John Brown.
Taryn Wills led all players with 12 points and five rebounds heading into halftime as the Rams look to knock off their first ranked opponent of the season.

To start the second half the two teams would trade points early before Late in the third quarter the Golden eagles would go on a small run to tie the match up at 30 a piece. After a missed from The Rams John Brown would drain a three-point shot to take their first lead of the night as the quarter ended.

Now trailing 35-34 the Rams would look to capture the lead against a fired-up John Brown team. The Rams would regain the lead again after Wills would finish a three-point play. A quick trip to the free throw from the Golden Eagles would have the game tied at 44-44 with 3 minutes left on the clock. John Brown would come up big with a three-point shot and a steal to finish at the rim to take a 50-44 lead over the Rams. A late foul would send the Golden Eagles back to the free throw line where they would knock down both shots. Trailing 7 points with a minute on the clock Texas Wesleyan would continue to battle as two quick steals would see the Rams down by 3. An untimely foul by the Rams would send the Golden Eagle back to the free throw line where they would continue to knock down shots. As the seconds winded down on the clock the John Brown would hold on to their lead to remain undefeated in SAC play with a 55-50 victory over Texas Wesleyan.
