MBB: Rams Win Over Trailblazers on the Road

DALLAS, TX — On Thursday, Texas Wesleyan emerged victorious over UNT Dallas with a final score of 77-70.

During the first half, UNT Dallas took a slight lead, finishing with a score of 40-33. However, Texas Wesleyan orchestrated a remarkable comeback in the second half, outscoring their opponents 44-30 and ultimately sealing the win.

Adetokunbo Bakare led the Rams in scoring with 23 points. His efficiency was evident with a 7-12 field goal shooting, 4-5 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line. 

Kris Lafayette made a considerable contribution, tallying 16 points and securing a double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds. 

Tariq Aman led the charge for the Trailblazers with 13 points, while Kanntrell Burney added 11 points off the bench.

Statistically, Texas Wesleyan's shooting percentages experienced an upswing in the second half, concluding the game at 41.8% from the field, 55.6% from three-point range, and an impressive 86.7% from the free-throw line. 

Despite a solid first half, UNT Dallas encountered struggles in the second, resulting in a final shooting percentage of 40.7% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range, and 82.6% from the free-throw line.

The Rams will return home to play Saturday against crosstown rival SAGU, with tip-off scheduled for 3:45 p.m. The game will also honor alums who show up with free admission for them and a guest, in addition to recognizing Coaches vs Cancer Week.
