WSOC: Late Goal Volts Rams to Tie Stars

FORT WORTH, TX – A late goal from Bailey Clark salvaged a 1-1 draw for Texas Wesleyan against Oklahoma City in a women's soccer match on Tuesday.

Oklahoma City (5-3-2, 1-0-1 SAC) struck first in the 49th minute when Reese Roberts found the back of the net off an assist from Chloi Thurman. The goal gave the Stars a 1-0 advantage and shifted the momentum in their favor for much of the second half.

Texas Wesleyan (2-6-2, 0-1-1 SAC) remained resilient, pushing for an equalizer as time dwindled. In the 88th minute, Clark delivered the tying score with a well-placed assist from Mia Alvillar. The Rams' persistent attack found rewards as Clark's shot beat Oklahoma City goalkeeper Gemma Harvey.

Both teams battled evenly throughout the match, with Texas Wesleyan outshooting Oklahoma City 8-6. Texas Wesleyan placed six of its shots on goal, compared to two from Oklahoma City. Harvey made five saves for the Stars, while Rams goalkeeper Maggie Campbell recorded one save.

Corner kicks also favored the Lady Rams, 4-2. Oklahoma City committed nine fouls in the match, while Texas Wesleyan was blown for two.

The match remained scoreless in the first half despite a few promising opportunities from both sides. Clark had an early chance saved by Harvey, while Roberts had a shot saved by Campbell in the 9th minute.

The Rams will next play against Southwestern Christian at 1 p.m. on the road.
