FORT WORTH, TX - Texas Wesleyan University (18-7, 14-3 SAC)swept Oklahoma Panhandle State University (8-17, 6-11 SAC) in straight sets (25-17, 25-21, 25-17) on Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Rams' balanced offensive attack was spearheaded by Lyric Biggiers, who recorded 11 kills, followed closely by Grace Pavelka with ten kills and Hanna Rubis with seven. Texas Wesleyan outperformed OPSU with 43 kills to the Aggies' 24 and hit .217 as a team.
Defensively, the Rams excelled in blocks and digs, recording six blocks to OPSU's seven and out-digging the Aggies 49-39. Ruby Rumohr and Emily Lewis were defensive standouts, combining for 22 digs, while Rumohr also tied Ruby O'Brien with 17 assists each.
OPSU's Taylore Alsaid led with nine kills, supported by Taylor Silva with six. Nyah Ulmer contributed 13 assists, and Silva also led the team in digs with nine. The Aggies struggled to gain offensive momentum, hitting only .074 across the match.
Texas Wesleyan set the tone early, opening with a strong first set, hitting .235 with 15 kills to take it 25-17. The Aggies tightened the score in the second set but could not close the gap, with the Rams taking it 25-21. The third set mirrored the first as Texas Wesleyan sealed the match with a 25-17 victory.
The Rams return to play at 7 p.m. on Tuesday against Nelson University in the Sid Richardson Center.
