PLAINVIEW, TX - Texas Wesleyan University (4-9-3, 2-3-2 SAC) and Wayland Baptist University (2-11-1, 1-6-1 SAC) played to a 2-2 draw on Saturday in a hard-fought conference matchup.
The Pioneers struck first just over a minute in, with Hayde' Gallardo finding the back of the net off an assist from Camila Zavala.
TXWES responded in the 16th minute when Isabella Kingsakongthong scored her second goal of the season, assisted by Mikayla Trevino, tying the match at 1-1.
In the second half, WBU reclaimed the lead in the 63rd minute, with Meagan Picon scoring her third goal of the season, assisted by Elaina Barrientes.
However, Texas Wesleyan's Brinkley Williams leveled the score at 2-2 in the 71st minute, ensuring the Rams avoided the loss.
Texas Wesleyan had the edge in offensive stats, registering ten shots (five on target) compared to Wayland Baptist's nine (six on target).
The Rams also led in corner kicks, 6-4, while Wayland Baptist committed 14 fouls to Texas Wesleyan's seven. Â
TXWES will close out the regular season part of their schedule at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Martin Field against the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma.
