FORT WORTH, TX - The Texas Wesleyan (11-6-2, 5-3-2 SAC) Men's Soccer team secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Science and Arts (6-8-4, 3-5-2 SAC)Â Â on Tuesday at Martin Field, earning the fourth seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
With the win, the Rams clinch a home matchup next Wednesday against the No. 5-seeded team in the conference standings.
The Rams overcame an early setback after the Drovers Harry Yorke scored in the third minute, assisted by Stijn Iding and Fabian Romero. Texas Wesleyan responded in the 20th minute, with Chandler Brookins, assisted by Luis Gallegos, leveling the score. Just before halftime, Mathis Guffroy found the net, giving Texas Wesleyan a 2-1 lead going into the break.
In the second half, the Rams dominated offensively. Pablo Bances scored in the 60th minute, followed by Fabricio Martinez, assisted by Guffroy, in the 69th minute to extend the lead to 4-1. Matteo Todorovic added the finishing touch in the 87th minute with a goal assisted by Gallegos, sealing the victory at 5-1.
Both teams recorded eight shots, but Texas Wesleyan capitalized efficiently with six on target. Goalkeeper Jesus Diaz made two key saves to support a strong defensive effort, securing momentum for Texas Wesleyan as they look ahead to their first-round conference tournament matchup.
The game tonight concluded the Rams part of the regular season. For now, the team must sit and wait to see where they will play in the first round of the SAC Tournament.
