MBB: Rams Win in Overtime on the Road

TEXARKANA, TX - Texas Wesleyan opened strong against Texas A&M-Texarkana, with Trey Sinegal sinking multiple three-pointers and finding success under the basket.

Kaden Morgan and Vegas Evans bolstered the offense, keeping the Rams in the lead. However, A&M-Texarkana mounted a comeback, capitalizing on Texas Wesleyan turnovers. Deovaunta Williams led the Texarkana surge, hitting several three-pointers and cutting into Wesleyan's lead. Despite a technical foul on Williams, A&M-Texarkana applied offensive pressure and ended the half ahead, 47-37.

In the second half, Texas Wesleyan pushed back to close the gap. Richard Amaefule was instrumental inside, scoring consistently and hitting crucial free throws, while Kristopher O'Neal's three-point shooting helped narrow the margin. The Rams, trailing by ten at one point, rallied defensively, with Evans and others securing rebounds and making steals.

Evans' late three-pointer brought Texas Wesleyan within reach, and Amaefule's free throw tied the game at 79-79. With intense defensive pressure, the Rams held A&M-Texarkana scoreless in the final seconds, forcing the game into overtime.

Texas Wesleyan's resilience excelled in overtime. Key plays by Matt Nero and Vegas Evans set the pace, including a three-pointer from Evans to establish a narrow lead. Sinegal's late-game free throws extended the Rams' advantage, while a strong defensive stand limited Texarkana's scoring chances. A late three-pointer by Williams for Texarkana kept the pressure on, but Texas Wesleyan's defense forced turnovers and controlled the rebounds, securing a thrilling 92-89 victory.

The Rams play at Southwestern Christian on Saturday before returning home to play the University of North Texas Dallas.
