POINT LOOKOUT, MO - Texas Wesleyan secured a decisive 69-53 victory over the College of the Ozarks on Saturday at Keeter Gymnasium.
The Rams improved to 7-3Â overall and 3-3 in conference play, while the Bobcats fell to 6-4 and 2-4, respectively.
The Rams took control early, with Vegas Evans setting the tone by scoring 14 points and delivering consistent offensive pressure. Montez Young Jr. provided a significant spark off the bench, leading the team with 14 points on an efficient 7-for-10 shooting. His energy and dominance in the paint helped Texas Wesleyan establish a strong first-half lead, 30-22.
Richard Amaefule anchored the Rams' defense, securing 12 rebounds, including 11 defensive boards, while contributing nine points. His efforts limited the Bobcats' second-chance opportunities and kept Texas Wesleyan ahead. Contributions from Anthony Sierras, who tallied 11 points and hit two three-pointers, and Matt Nero, with nine points and solid defensive plays, highlighted the Rams' depth.
Despite a valiant effort by College of the Ozarks' Andrew Dalton, who scored a game-high 20 points, the Bobcats struggled offensively. They shot 29.1% from the field and 22.2% from beyond the arc, with Texas Wesleyan's defense forcing key turnovers and limiting fast-break opportunities.
The Rams extended their lead in the second half with crucial plays, including a three-pointer from Trey Sinegal and a thunderous dunk by Young Jr. Texas Wesleyan's bench also shined, outscoring the Bobcats' reserves 34-11. The largest lead of the game, 19 points, came midway through the second half.
The Rams return to the Sid Richardson Center on Thursday to play Wayland Baptist tipoff at 6 pm.
