GOODWILL, OK – On Saturday, Texas Wesleyan (9-14, SAC 7-10) emerged victorious against Oklahoma Panhandle State (4-17, SAC 4-13) 70-58.
The first half saw The Rams trailing slightly with a score of 25-29, but a solid second-half performance turned the tide.
Adetokunbo Bakare was instrumental in the victory, leading Texas Wesleyan with 20 points, including 4-16 from the field, 2-11 from beyond the arc, and a stellar 10-11 from the free-throw line.
Kris Lafayette and
Isaiah Marin also scored 12 and 9 points, respectively.
The team's shooting performance improved in the second half, with a 41.94% field goal percentage and a 22.22% success rate from three-point range. Overall, Texas Wesleyan finished the game with a 32.2% field goal percentage, 16.1% from beyond the arc, and 87.1% from the free-throw line.
On the defensive end, Texas Wesleyan nabbed 55 total rebounds, led by
Richard Amaefule with 11 rebounds and 14 points.
For the Aggies, Abdulh Diaby led the scoring with 14 points, while Fred Robinson and Joe Greaves contributed 8 and 6 points, respectively.
The game featured several lead changes (4 times) and highlighted Texas Wesleyan's ability to capitalize on second-chance opportunities, scoring 18 points in that category compared to Oklahoma Panhandle State's 13.
